A 90-Day Contemplative Sobriety Container for Fathers
Ninety days. No alcohol. Not forever — just long enough to see what's underneath. A founding cohort of twelve men.
The Truth
Your children are watching you. They are growing like you are growing.
On the outside, everything seems to be in order. On the inside, something feels a little off. You're running at 70% of your energetic capacity, and you suspect alcohol is the reason.
You drink because you aren't fully comfortable and grounded in your body in the here and now.
There's always a part of you that wants to get away from yourself.
The Promise
Inside that window, you'll build a daily practice of movement and meditation that gives your nervous system somewhere to land. We'll explore why you drink and what it's actually costing you.
When you finish, you'll be alcohol-free and have a steady daily meditation practice infused into your life. Alcohol will become optional — rather than necessary — to feel happy at home in your own skin.
Most men who do this don't go back. Not because they were told not to — but because they finally feel the difference in their body, their sleep, their presence with their kids, and the way their partner encounters them. If you choose to go back to drinking consciously after the 90 days, that's your choice. You'll have the capacity to make it clearly.
Why I Built This
I know what it feels like to be running at 70%. To have built something real — a family, a career, a life that looks right from the outside — and still reach for a drink at the end of the day just to feel like yourself. Not because you're broken. Because the discomfort of just being here, in your body, in the quiet, is something nobody ever taught you to sit with.
I found my way out through contemplative practice. A daily zazen practice that started over fifteen years ago. More than twenty silent Zen retreats. Deep family-of-origin work that took years and moved things I didn't know were stuck. And finally, in November of 2024, a clear-eyed decision to leave alcohol behind completely — not because I had to, but because I could finally feel what it was costing me.
That last part matters. This isn't a crisis story. It's a clarity story. I wasn't at rock bottom. I was at 70% — functional, successful, and slowly becoming aware of the gap between the father I was and the father I wanted to be.
I created The Clearing to give other men the window I gave myself. Long enough to feel the difference. Supported enough to actually do the work. The dual medicine of sobriety and contemplative practice, held inside a container of twelve men who are serious about showing up.
What's Inside
Friday calls covering the science of sobriety, meditation, depth psychology, and family-of-origin work. Live meditations, Q&A, and genuine witness from men in the same season of life.
A simple, portable daily practice you can do in 20 minutes. It compounds over 90 days into something that will surprise you. Designed for fathers with full lives and no time to waste.
A daily checklist — sobriety, movement, meditation, reading — that keeps the thread taut across 90 days. Structure that supports, not polices.
Drawn from contemplative and depth psychology traditions: Hollis, Carr, Mellody, and others. Books that explain why you are the way you are — and what to do about it.
Twelve men. Same season of life. Doing the same work. No performance required. The kind of brotherhood most men have never had.
As a founding cohort member, you receive permanent free access to The Clearing community as it grows. You're not joining something that already exists. You're helping build what it becomes.
The Guarantee
This isn't a passive investment. It's a commitment — and it requires yours.
The sobriety. The meditation. The movement. The group calls. By the end of the 90 days you'll be 90 days alcohol-free and have a steady daily meditation practice infused into your life.
I will give every dollar back if you don't feel like you went from running at 70% capacity to 99% — by any metric you choose.
